Diamond Trading Company Botswana (DTCB) has organized its second sale of rough diamonds from 2 June to 6 June in Gabarone. The 16 DTCB clients participating in this Sight will be Botswana divisions of Dalumi, Zebra Diamonds, Yerushalmi Bros, Teemane Manufacturing Company, Suashish Diamonds, Steinmetz Diamonds, Safdico, Rand Diamonds, Pluczenik, MotiGanz, Lazare Kaplan, Leo Schachter, Hearts and Arrows Cutting Works, Eurostar, Dia Holdings and DDA, said Kago Mmopi, corporate communications and public affairs manager, DTCB.
DTCB held its first local sale in April 2008. With the second sale soon to be underway, DTCB has scheduled the remaining 8 Sights for this year to be held every 5 weeks, Mmopi added.
“This year, DTC Botswana will supply $375m worth of rough diamonds to 16 locally established diamond cutting and polishing companies and the supply is expected to go over $550m per annum by the end of the decade” said DTC Botswana’s MD, Brian McDonald.
The rough diamonds offered for sale at the DTCB Sights are sourced from various countries like Russia, Canada, South Africa, Botswana, Namibia and Tanzania.
The DTCB client list was announced on 14 November last year.
