Titan partners with Saahas for e-waste management

Staff, Aug 08 2008
Titan, a leading watch brand announced the Titan Green Exchange initiative to be implemented in partnership with Saahas, a Bangalore based NGO committed towards reducing environmental impact of e-waste.

"The Titan Exchange offer has grown into the most sought after promotional schemes in the lifestyle category in India. However, the increasing popularity of this offer also implies large number of old watches that requires intensive recycling. We are happy to associate with Saahas and E-Wardd who are equipped to efficiently handle this initiative,” said Ajoy Chawla, VP and Global Business Head, Titan and Retail.

Titan Exchange offer generates thousands of old wristwatches from customers across the country who return their watches for getting new Titan watches. Saahas, with the able assistance of E-Wardd, one of the first groups of informal recyclers in India, will undertake the recycling of e-waste generated from these old watches exchanged during the ongoing offer.

"Lifestyle changes have led to generation of huge quantities of e-waste that are potentially hazardous to the environment. However, few lifestyle businesses have realized the need to establish self-regulatory norms that will minimize the impact of evolving lifestyles on our environment,” said Wilma Rodrigues, Founder member, Saahas.
